The implants have 3 parts first the implant then the abutment for the attachment
between crown and implant underneath in the jaw bone and third the crowns, bridges or dentures.
The implant holds a crown, bridge or denture just like roots hold natural teeth in place. The dental implants are considered as the next best thing to our natural teeth.It provides much greater stability for more effective eating, speaking and smiling.
All the healthy individual who have missing teeth due to trauma or developmental abnormalities or due to gum problem can go for this.
You can consider an Oral Implant when:
  • You do not want to have your natural teeth cut down, which is required in making your conventional dental bridge.

The procedure commences after thorough diagnosis and treatment planning.
Stage 1: Insertion of the implant in the Jaw bone, which is a non-painful procedure. .
The procedure is performed under aseptic condition with proper facilities and
conditions for oral implant surgery. Local anaesthesia is given to control pain
during the operation.
A recipient site of the same size and shape as the implant is created in the jaw bone with drilling instruments. The implant is inserted into the site prepared. Usually,
a healing period of 3 to 6 months is required for the jaw bone to fuse with the implant. The jaw bone has different densities in different areas ----- the denser the bone, the shorter the healing period. . Usually, a straight forward implant treatment takes about 4 to 7 months to complete. Longer periods are required for complex situation such as cases requiring bone grafting. Pain which may occur after the procedure can be effectively controlled with oral medications

Stage 2: Placement of the abutment on the implants after 3-6 months
The healing period is normally 3 months for the new bone to fill in between the implant and the jaw bone to form a permanent attachment, and then the abutment is placed to hold the prosthesis on the implant.Now the impression of jaws is taken for fabrication of the replacement part on the implant for a crown or bridge or denture base.

Stage 3: Fixing of the Prosthetic part on the abutment.
The replacement phase of the implant does not require anaesthesia. This phase is basically non-invasive and non-surgical in nature. Now the prosthetic part; which may be a crown or the bridge or to hold the denture base for more retention and stability is fixed on to the abutment.
The maintenance of the implant is simple and done by more number of times rinsing your mouth, flossing regularly and usage of proper tooth brush and its correct technique of using. Regular scaling and polishing to be done in every 6 months along with regular check up every 6 months.
Implants are a little more expensive than dentures and bridges but are an investment for a better health, better looks, proper chewing of food and easy to maintain your dental hygiene for life time and not an option for the short time therapy. Single stage implants are also done at our centers.
